Inflammation not only causes your body to store fat and make your joints ache - it's a silent assassin. In fact...

Inflammation is said to be the root cause of ALL diseases.

Now, the best way to reduce inflammation is by dodging food and drink that are heavily processed.

By doing so, you can restore some sort of balance to your hormonal mojo, prevent disease and speed up fat loss.

If you ignore toxic build up from processed food and drinks, then it's almost like you're paddling upstream - your progress will be very slow.

Principle #2: Cut Calories

Ah, the old calories in vs calories out debate...

Look, calories are important and to lose fat faster you need to consume less calories. However...

If you're eating a healthy diet (to reduce toxic inflammation) you shouldn't need to count calories to lose the fattimus from your assimus.

By cleaning up your diet, you will reduce the calories almost effortlessly, because all that nasty processed food, that messes with your hormonal mojo, usually comes with a heavy calorie count too.

On the other hand, if weight loss has stalled, then you better keep tabs on what you're eating for a few days to make sure you're not kidding yourself - something like myfitnesspal works well for this.

Now, if you're looking to take things an extra step, then one of my fave methods for reducing your calorie intake quickly, that also comes with several other health benefits, has to be intermittent fasting. 

If you've not tried intermittent fasting yet, then now might well be a good opportunity for to take it for a test drive.

Principle #3: Drop The Carbs

It goes without saying that you should steer clear of sugar laden foods, but if you want to prevent the fat loss doors slamming right into your face, then I recommend you avoid huge portions of bread, pasta, chips, etc.

These foods will spike your blood sugar and cause your insulin levels to raise.

When this happens, your excess chub is going nowhere...even with a low calorie diet and exercise.

Principle #4: Exercise

I'll be the first to tell you that most of your results are going to come from your diet. Yet...

Something magical happens when you include exercise in that equation.

Exercise focuses the mind and gives your metabolism an extra boost meaning faster results. Plus...

If you want to have a bit of cake every now and again, you've gotta do some exercise.


The one thing I will point out is that slow-boring cardio, the type of exercise that you see people do at your local gym on one of those dreadmills, is NOT  the best way to lose fat.

Earlier I mentioned that not all calories are created equally. Well...

Not all workout styles are created equally either.

For better results, you've got to combine cardiovascular and resistance training, especially if you're short on time and having to juggle work, kids, chores, etc.

Principle #5: Eat Whatever You Want

At this point you might be thinking I've lost the plot. But...

There are 2 very good reasons why I want you to "cheat" on your diet.

The first reason is simply to stop you going bonkers.

You see, if I was to tell you that you can't eat foods such as chocolate or ice-cream for several weeks, you'd probably struggle and give up after only a couple of weeks.

In my experience, it's better to allow people to enjoy their fave foods strategically, which helps them stick to this healthy eating lark long-term.

The second reason is to keep a certain hormone happy, called Leptin.

You see, Leptin doesn’t like it if you reduce your calories or cut carbs for too long.

When this happens, Leptin gets all out of sorts and slams your metabolism into the ground (ouch!). So…

To keep your metabolism tickity-boo, all you need to do is up your calories and carbs strategically with the odd cheat meal - or as I like to call it, a metabolic recharge.

In doing so, Leptin won't get it's knickers in a twist and your metabolism will stay optimized for longer period of time.
